Arsenal’s Black Stars deputy captain, Thomas Partey, is on the brink of making a comeback as he resumes full training with the Gunners after being sidelined since October due to a muscle injury.

Partey, who missed Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) because of the injury, is now eyeing a return to action in Arsenal’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.

The Black Stars’ deputy skipper was seen actively participating in training alongside Arsenal’s first team during their camp in Dubai, signaling positive progress in his recovery.

This injury setback marked the first time Partey has missed an AFCON since his debut in 2016. The midfielder had consistently featured in three consecutive AFCON tournaments – 2017, 2019, and 2021.

The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to commence on January 13, 2023. However, Ghana will begin their Group B campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Baigny in Abidjan, with Partey unfortunately sitting out this edition due to his ongoing recovery process.

Partey Back on the Pitch: Gunners Fans Rejoice!

Hold onto your scarves, Gooners, because there's a glimmer of hope shining brighter than the midday sun in Dubai! Our very own midfield maestro, Thomas Partey, has been spotted back in full training with the Arsenal first team!

This is like finding a hidden stash of North Bank pies before the Emirates gates even open – pure joy! Partey's been sidelined since October with that pesky muscle injury, leaving a gaping hole in the heart of our midfield. His absence coincided with a dip in form for the Gunners, so his return couldn't be more welcome.

Here's why this news has the Arsenal faithful doing the samba:

  • Partey's the engine: Remember those dominant displays early in the season? Partey was the driving force, dictating tempo, winning tackles, and spraying passes like Xhaka's hair gel dispenser. His return could be the missing piece for a late-season surge.
  • Xhaka's not alone anymore: Granit Xhaka did his best holding down the midfield fort, but let's be honest, it's a lot for one man to handle. Partey by his side will give Xhaka the freedom to push forward and support the attack, a deadly combo we haven't seen in months.
  • Depth and options: Mikel Arteta finally has choices again! With Partey and Elneny back in the mix, he can rotate his midfield depending on the opponent and tactics. This tactical flexibility could be crucial in challenging for the top six (dare we dream higher?).

Of course, it's still early days. We don't know how soon Partey will be match-fit, and there's always the risk of re-injury. But the mere sight of him back on the training pitch has breathed new life into the Arsenal faithful.
