Former Ghana international Yaw Preko believes adequate preparation is what the Black Stars need to make a meaningful impact in the upcoming Nations Cup 2023.

The West African powerhouse are yet to win the prestigious title since 1982 and are aiming to end the trophy drought in the upcoming tournament to be staged in Ivory Coast early next year.

Ghana have come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.

“We are happy Ghana qualified for the AFCON. We hope we break the Afcon drought next year. It’s something which is very paramount to us and we pray we finally break that jinx”

“We should bear in mind that we aren’t the only country preparing for the tournament, all the countries who qualified are also preparing, so we need to prepare adequately for the tournament and importantly get some luck behind us and who knows, we can win it” he told Kessben Fm monitored by Footballghana.com.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 is scheduled to take place from Saturday, January 13, to Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Cote d'Ivoire.
