Former Asante Kotoko board chairman, Herbert Mensah has indicated that the club can only move forward if the board chairman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) work together.

In the past year, there have been reports of an alleged rift between club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah and the board chair Dr. Kwame Kyei.

As a result, fans have complained in recent weeks, insisting that the problem existing between the two is why the club is not doing well in the Ghana Premier League this season.

Speaking to Akoma FM in an interview, Herbert Mensah has urged the CEO of Asante Kotoko and the club’s board chairman to find common ground and work together.

“Whoever is in charge of Kotoko is there temporarily. Both the Chief Executive Officer and the Board chairman are appointed by Manhyia, they need to work hand in hand,” Mr. Herbert Mensah said.

The former Asante Kotoko board chairman added, "I hope Dr. Kyei and Nana Yaw Amponsah both will appreciate this fact, you play and manage for the wider supporters and not yourself and the two ought to understand that. This is the way forward for Kotoko."

Currently, Asante Kotoko’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League title this season have become very slim.

The 1-1 draw with Bibiani Gold Stars over the weekend did not help matters.
