Following a challenging match against Germany that saw the USA facing a 3-1 defeat, Coach Gregg Berhalter is determined to focus on the positives.
As the team prepares to square off against Ghana in an upcoming friendly, Berhalter emphasized the importance of building on the positives gleaned from their previous encounter.
Christian Pulišić scored in the 27th minute for USA, his goal was assisted by Folarin Balogun. Germany scored three goals in the 39th, 58th and 61st minute through Illkay Gundogan, Niclas Füllkrug, and Jamal Musiala.
"In Germany we started with defending in a 4-4-2 and with Gio higher I thought that we were not connected enough we had a little bit too orientated in attacking midfielders," he said.
"We wanted midfielders with a nice strong connection we each other we didn't always have that. I thought in possession for me it is about how do we keep the guys central how to attract the Germany's we are good enough on the ball to receive balls under pressure and find opening spaces.
"In terms of output Gio got into really good positions in 45 minutes made some key passes that led to goal scoring opportunities and that is something we want to build on,"
