Ghana international, Mohammed Salisu has issued a statement apologising to fans of Southampton after the team’s relegation from the English Premier League.

Following a 2-0 defeat to Fulham over the weekend, the Saints suffered relegation and will now feature in the Championship next season.

In a statement on Instagram, Mohammed Salisu says Southampton players have learned lessons and will work on improving.

“We want to assure you that every player and member of our team is determined to come back stronger and better prepared for the next season,” the Black Stars defender said.

Mohammed Salisu continued, “Despite the outcome, I am incredibly proud of our team and the effort that each and every player put in throughout the season. We know that there are many lessons to be learned and improvements to be made. We are grateful for each and every one of our fans.”

Up next for Mohammed Salisu and Southampton, they will take on Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.
