Los Angeles FC defeated Real Salt Lake 3-0 on Sunday morning at Rio Tinto Stadium. Ghanaian forward Kwadwo Opoku scored the opening goal in the eighth minute, while Gabonese striker Denis Bouanga added a second in the 34th minute.
Mateusz Bogusz converted a penalty in the 87th minute to seal the victory.
The win moves LAFC up to third place in the Western Conference, while Real Salt Lake remain in seventh place.
Opoku opened the scoring with a well-taken finish after latching onto a beautiful lobbed ball over the top of the Real Salt Lake defence. Bouanga doubled LAFC's lead with a stunning strike from distance, curling the ball into the top corner of the net.
Duje completed the scoring in the 87th minute, converting a penalty after Real Salt Lake defender Justen Glad was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.
LAFC were the better team throughout the game and deserved their victory. They created a number of chances and could have scored more goals. Real Salt Lake were poor and struggled to create any clear-cut chances.
