Former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has been seen in a video endorsing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Ken Ohene Agyapong.

The former CAF Vice President has been in the spotlight since his involvement in the investigative journalism exposé 'Number 12' by Anas Aremeyaw Anas five years ago.

The video was recorded during Agyapong's campaign tour in Jirapa, located in the Upper West Region, over the weekend.

In the video, Nyantakyi, who is not only a prominent figure in the football world but also a lawyer, introduced himself in his local dialect and threw his support behind Ken Agyapong as the ideal candidate to lead Ghana in the upcoming 2024 elections.

He urged all party delegates to rally behind Agyapong and vote for him on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

As a result of his involvement in the scandal, FIFA imposed a lifetime ban on Nyantakyi and fined him 500,000 Swiss Francs.

Additionally, he faced legal charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and corruption by a public officer but was later released on bail with certain conditions.

However, following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) three years ago, Nyantakyi's lifetime ban was reduced to 15 years. This development possibly paved the way for him to resurface in the political scene alongside Ken Agyapong.

It's worth noting that Nyantakyi was present alongside Agyapong when the latter filed his nomination form to contest for the NPP Presidential candidacy on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
