On Tuesday, Rangers’ outfielder Evan Carter was met with regrettable developments.

On Monday, the Texas Rangers moved outfielder Evan Carter to the 60-day injured list. On Tuesday, Rangers general manager Chris Young delivered somber news, indicating to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News that Carter’s season is probably finished.

“Chris Young stated that the Rangers do not anticipate Evan Carter returning for the remainder of the regular season. Grant conveyed this on X, previously known as Twitter, indicating that Carter requires additional rest for his back, which is the only way to put it.”

Carter made a strong impact during his initial 23 MLB regular season outings in 2023, securing a place on the playoff roster and shining as a postseason standout. Despite not officially completing his rookie MLB season, Carter garnered high hopes in 2024.

However, due to injuries, he has only participated in 45 games this season. His performance has been underwhelming with a slash line of .188/.272/.361/.633, indicating he has not resembled the player instrumental in the Rangers’ 2023 World Series triumph.
The 21-year-old remains plagued by a persistent back injury. Supporters had been optimistic about the possibility of the outfielder’s comeback later in 2024. However, unless he stages a remarkable recovery surprising the Rangers, it seems unlikely that Carter will take the field again until 2025.
