Dutch-born Ghana defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been out with a knee injury for four weeks.

On matchday two, the defender was the final member of the Bayer 04 Leverkusen team.

Fosu-Mensah was allowed to return to the training field at the beginning of the week.

Individual training was first on the Dutchman's agenda, according to Bild.

Fosu-Mensah had suffered from two significant knee ailments, but he was injury-free last season. Fosu-Mensah previously competed in three international games for the Dutch national team.

Last season the defender made eleven appearances in the Bundesliga.

Fosu-Mensah moved from Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen on January 13, 2021. He had a second knee ligament injury on February 28, 2021, ending his 2020–21 campaign.

Fosu-Mensah made his return to action on January 15, 2022, when he came off the bench during a 2-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. It had been 321 days since his previous appearance.

The 25-year-old's market value is 2 million euros according to Transfermarkt.
