Samuel Atta Mills, the Vice Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has criticized the management of the National Sports Authority (NSA), branding it as poorly handled.

This assertion came to light during the PAC session held on Monday, February 5, where the NSA Director General, Professor Peter Twumasi, and the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, were present.

Atta Mills joined the chorus of voices condemning the alleged mismanagement within the NSA, stating, "There is a lot of rot over there.

"Vodafone Ghana owed you GHS 18,900.00 and the CCMI; they owed you GHS 2,250.00 and you sat down for this regional head to write it off without permission."

He specifically pointed out instances of financial missteps, highlighting that Vodafone Ghana owed the NSA GHS 18,900.00 and CCMI owed GHS 2,250.00, which were inexplicably written off by a regional head without proper authorization.

The issue of financial irregularities within the NSA has gained significant attention, with Parliament even issuing a directive for the arrest of the Northern Regional Director of the NSA.

This directive stems from the failure to deposit over GH¢160,000 in internally generated funds. The 2022 Auditor General's report also underscores concerns regarding the Northern Regional Management of the Sports Authority, citing expenditures that contravene the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.
