The head coach of the Ghana national team, Coach Otto Addo has urged players born in Europe who have decided to represent the Black Stars to look beyond just having a chance to feature at the world cup.
Last month, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) managed to get six players born abroad to switch to play for the Black Stars.
Amid talk that the players only agreed to play for the country because of the chance to play at the 2022 World Cup, Coach Otto Addo says that mindset if there is any must change.
According to him, playing for Ghana is about winning, being successful, and receiving a lot of joy and love.
"And this is not like the club stage where you can sign maybe for one to three years. And then after that, if things don't work, you can go to another club. It's a lifetime decision.
"This is why they really have to think about what to do. Especially if you're not born in this environment, it's not always easy.
"But they know what they stand to get. And first of all, it's a lot of joy and love,” Coach Otto Addo told BBC Sport Africa in an interview.
The Germany-trained tactician continued, "And surely also for them. It's not only about the World Cup, but also about more World Cups to come. It's about African Cup of Nations.
"It's about winning, being successful. So, it's not about just this one World Cup in Qatar."
Among the six new players who have switched to play for Ghana, Inaki Williams and Tariq Lamptey are the two in a pole position to play for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
