Ghana head coach, Otto Addo has indicated that he understands players who are reluctant to switch nationality to play for the Black Stars.

Speaking to the BBC in an interview, the German-based tactician said it is a tough ask to push for a player to switch nationality to represent another country especially when not born in the particular country.

“Since March we’ve been talking to a lot of players who we think can have an impact on the team.

“I can understand it can be a difficult decision, especially if you were born in another country and you’re young,” Coach Otto Addo said.

The Ghana head coach continued, “It’s a lifetime decision, unlike at club level where you can play for several teams, so it’s very difficult and I understand them better, having been born in Germany.

“But we want those who have decided to get familiar with the team and the staff as soon as possible. So everybody who wants to join has to join now so they know exactly what they’re going to do.”

Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has managed to get six players to agree to play for the national team.

Amongst them is Atletico Bilbao talisman Inaki Williams as well as talented full-back Tariq Lamptey.
