Stephen Appiah and Samuel Osei Kuffour have both rejected appointments to serve as Black Stars management committee members.

According to reports, the former Ghana internationals were approached by the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) but both have rejected the offer, citing lack of trust.

All committees for national teams have been dissolved by the Executive Council of the Football Association.

With the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) coming up in January in Ivory Coast, the country’s football governing are working to put together a committee to manage the senior national team.

The pair having served in the various capacities at the Black Stars, believe managers of football in the country have consistently rejected their input reason for rejecting the appointment.

Appiah, who led Ghana to two FIFA World Cups - the country's maiden qualification to the Mundial in Germany in 2006, and in 2010 when the tournament was staged in Africa for the first time, was appointed a member of the reconstituted Management Committee of the Black Stars in February 2022, after the team's horrendous showing in Cameroon during the AFCON.

He also served as a member of the Black Stars backroom staff under former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah.

Osei Kuffour, who is a Bayern Munich legend has also served as a management committee member of the Black Stars.

Appiah and Kuffour played together at the senior national team and were key players. They played together at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Having recorded a win against Madagascar and a defeat against Comoros in the first two games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Black Stars will turn their attention to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will be staged in Ivory Coast.

Ghana have been housed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
