Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced a financial pledge of GH₵100,000 to Medeama Sporting Club (SC), the champions of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
The pledge comes ahead of the club's participation in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
Medeama SC clinched their first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a resounding 3-0 victory over Tamale City at Akoon Park on the final day of the season.
They maintained a five-point lead over their closest rival, Aduana FC.
Throughout the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League season, they won 18 matches, drawing six, and suffering 10 defeats.
A special ceremony was held in Accra on Wednesday, during which Medeama SC and their management presented the league trophy to Parliament.
Addressing the team and its management, Speaker Bagbin affirmed his solidarity with Medeama SC, stating, "So Medeama SC, I want to assure you that the house is with you and I will proceed to pledge, which you can take up from me anytime, an amount of GH₵100,000 now to support you.
"This is the time to enjoy, refresh, motivate, and incentivize yourselves for the task ahead. We are with you. Congratulations."
