The Banyana Banyana squad that won the 2022 WAFCON is set to be rewarded beautifully by South Africa.
The South African women’s senior national team starred at last month’s tournament hosted by Morocco.
After overcoming every challenge that came their way, the Banyana Banyana faced off with the host nation in the finals.
At the end of the contest, South Africa’s women’s national team triumphed and lifted the WAFCON for the first time in the country’s history.
In addition to the super welcome given to the team, Sport, Arts & Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has disclosed that the team will be rewarded with a sum of ($882,352 to share.
"I'm pleased to announce $882,352 dollars (R15m) payout from the government. The disbursement of the payments has already begun,” Minister Nathi Mthethwa has announced.
The names of the playing body and the technical team have been inked into the history books of South African football and will be remembered forever.
