Sudan’s new head coach James Kwasi Appiah, along with his technical staff, including Fatau Dauda as the goalkeepers' coach and Ignatius Osei-Fosu as his assistant, conducted their inaugural training session on Tuesday, October 10 in Saudi Arabia.

The team is presently stationed in Saudi Arabia, engaged in preparations for upcoming friendlies in light of the civil unrest in Sudan, which has resulted in displacement and loss of lives for many.

Having inked a three-year contract, the former Black Stars trainer has been entrusted with the task of securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after missing out on the 2023 AFCON set to be held in Ivory Coast next year.

Sudan is slated to kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Togo on Monday, October 13, followed by a match against DR Congo on Monday, October 20, 2023.

Before taking up his current position, Kwasi Appiah was elected to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, garnering 10 out of 18 votes during the GAF elections held on Thursday, October 5 in Tamale.

However, it has been reported that Kwasi Appiah intends to step down from the Executive Council to devote his full attention to his role with the Sudanese national team.
