Ghana's destiny is very much in our hands, according to Henry Asante Twum, the spokesman for the Ghana Football Association, despite a difficult beginning to their Group B campaign.
Ghana's first Group B encounter unfolded in disappointment as the Black Stars succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde on Sunday evening.
The clash at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny saw Cape Verde's Jamiro Monteiro open the scoring in the 17th minute, putting the Black Stars on the back foot early in the game.
Despite a 37th-minute strike by Majeed Ahsimeru, which was initially counted but later nullified by VAR, Djiku pulled one back for the struggling Black Stars.
Garry Rodrigues of Cape Verde sealed the victory with a late goal deep into added time.
"The players know what is at stake the coaches know what is expected of them we also as management have absolute confidence in the technical team and the playing body," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com
"The odds are not in favour of us if you look at the pedigree of Egypt in the last four editions and you compare it to us ours is nothing to write home about with the exception of 2015 where we reached the final in Equatorial Guinea.
"But we know football sometimes defies logic our destiny is in our hands we have to go to the pitch and prove that we still have the quality and I think we still have the quality,"
The upcoming fixture on Thursday will be played at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny at 20:00 GMT.
