Ghana coach, Otto Addo has explained his decision after deploying Ernest Nuamah as a false nine in the friendly game against Nigeria.

In the first of the two friendly games, the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Super Eagles on Friday at the Stade de Marrakesh.

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers scored in the first half before Ademola Lookman increased the tally for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) runners-up.

However, Antoine Semenyo won a late penalty for Ghana which was eventually converted by Jordan Ayew but that was all the Ghanaians could get as the game ended 2-1.

Speaking on his decision to play the Lyon attacker a false nine, Otto Addo said,"In the first half, we had a little bit of problems because I wanted him [Ernest Nuamah] to play like a false nine to drop more into the midfield.

"But we couldn’t control the game the way we wanted. In our squad, we have about 8 players who are here for the first time and on the pitch also trained just four days together with the whole new squad because of injuries and for that, I have to say they adapted well and they did well in adapting to the way I want them to play was good," he added.

Otto Addo will hope to secure his first win when Ghana come up against the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday at the Stade de Marrakesh.
