Asamoah Gyan has said he has sacrificed for the senior national team, the Black Stars more than any other player.
The 39-year-old who is a former captain of the team is famously remembered for his goalscoring prowess during his playing days with the team.
Gyan, however, has been out of the national team after featuring at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
He came close to lifting the AFCON trophy in 2010 and 2015 in Angola and in Equitoral Guinea but the Black Stars placed second in all competitions.
Speaking on his contributions to the team, Gyan insisted that he is the most player who has sacrificed for the team more than any player.
According to him, even there have been some betrayals but he still feels proud of what he has done for the Black Stars.
"There is no player in the history of the Black Stars that has sacrificed for the team more than me. I love the team and anytime I earn a call-up to the national team, I have to do everything to ensure I contribute. The Ghana Football Association are aware of this," he told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.
"I took the team as my own and I had to risk my life and play for the team. I will have swollen knee and I will still play.
"Against Algeria, I was sick but I still played. In the game against the USA in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup, I was not well but I played and scored. I did all this for the country and the players can testify about that.
"Even though there have been some betrayals but I don't care what people say because I know what I have done for the team," he added.
Gyan played for the Black Stars for over a decade and remains the country's all-time top goalscorer and Africa's top goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.
