The Black Stars of Ghana have officially commenced preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualification match this month.

The Ghana national team is scheduled to take on Madagascar in the last but one match of Group E in the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON.

As part of preparations, the Black Stars have opened camp today, Monday, June 12.

Early in the morning, players invited for the upcoming clash reported to the team hotel at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

This evening when the players proceeded to the Accra Sports Stadium to train, only 23 players stepped onto the turf to put in work.

Of the 23 players, striker Hafiz Konkoni only engaged in the warmup but did not take part in the collective team training.

He did work on his own and is expected to take part in team training on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two players including Gideon Mensah and Thomas Partey were absent during the training.

The Black Stars will train at the Accra Sports Stadium until Thursday before making the trip to Madagascar on Friday.

The crucial AFCON qualifier between Ghana and Madagascar is scheduled to be played on Sunday, June 18, at Antananarivo.
