Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, says his role is to get the best out of the team and make them perform at a maximum level.

The ex-Irish international faced heavy scrutiny following losses to the United States and Mexico in October's international friendlies.

The Ghana Football Association were reportedly plotting his sacking but the plan was shot down by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who pay his wages.

Hughton, in an interview with the BBC, emphasized the importance of learning from both positive and negative experiences, acknowledging that consistent expected results aren't always attainable.

“My role as a coach of the Black Stars is to get the best results and best performance from the team. You can’t always get but what you can always do is to learn from your previous experience whether it's good or bad.

“Ultimately, I will work as hard as I always do to try to get things the best way we can. It’s wonderful and great to want to talk about the AFCON but sometimes for coaches, it’s difficult because we have two important World Cup qualification games before the tournament.”

Ghana will host Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the first two Group I games of the Mexico, Canada, and ISA tournament to be hosted in 2026.

Four days later, Ghana will play as guests to Comoros in the second group match as they hope to get some good results after the disappointing defeats last month.
