Morocco has become the 2nd African country to host the World Cup after FIFA named the North African nation to co-host the 2030 edition of the global event together Portugal and Spain.

South Africa became the first African nation to host the global showpiece tournament in 2010, with Spain winning their first ever World Cup.

Ghana made history in the South Africa tournament by becoming the third African nation to reach the quarterfinal after Senegal and Cameroon.

Morocco, Spain, and Portugal were confirmed by FIFA as the hosts for the 2030 World Cup, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay set to host the opening matches in celebration of the tournament's centenary.

The joint bid from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain emerged as the solitary contender to host the event, a decision that FIFA had initially planned to unveil in the coming year.

The inaugural World Cup in 1930 was held in Uruguay, where the hosts emerged victorious.
