Former Black Stars gaffer, Kwesi Appiah, has confirmed engaging in discussions with the Sudan Football Association.

The revelation comes as a potential indication of a new chapter in his coaching career.

Earlier reports in the local media suggested that the Sudanese Football Association has appointed Kwesi Appiah as the country's new head coach.

That seems not to be the case as Kwesi Appiah speaking to Ghanasportspage.com has stated that he is waiting for approval and release of Otumfour Osei Tutu II. He added that he is currently talking to the Sudan FA.

"There are currently talks with them (Sudan FA) but I am waiting for the approval and release of Otumfour Osei Tutu II," he said.

Appiah, who is the Chairman of the Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) last worked with lower-tier Ghanaian club Kenpong Academy since leaving his post as the Ghana national team head coach in January 2020, having been in charge of a second stint since April 2017.

The former Black Stars skipper, before taking up the head coach for the second time, was coaching Sudanese side Khartoum Club from December 2014 to April 2017.

Appiah in his first season in Sudan led the team to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Before his Sudan adventure, Appiah was head coach of the Black Stars, where he guided the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
