Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has described English-born Ghanaian Kobbie Mainoo as a great player after his remarkable performance in their 2-0 win over Arsenal in preseason.

18-year-old Mainoo, who was given the opportunity to feature in the starting lineup for the pivotal encounter against Arsenal, was deployed in the number six role.

The young midfielder proved his mettle, notching up an impressive assist and showcasing his potential as a future star in the making.

With the match in full swing, Mainoo demonstrated remarkable vision and skill, setting up Manchester United's captain, Bruno Fernandes, for the opening goal with a perfectly executed finish on the counter-attack. Jadon Sancho added the second minutes later.

Speaking to MUTV after the match, Bruno Fernandes couldn't contain his admiration for the young talent, expressing his belief that Kobbie Mainoo has a bright future ahead of him.

"Honestly, Kobbie is a great player, he shows great resilience," he told MUTV. "He's always ready to work. He's capabilities are high and everyone can see it [his talent]. He's good on the ball, strong, he can defend and attack.

"You see how he attacked the space for my goal. He's still pretty young, but we see a bright future for him and hopefully, he will get more minutes, more time, and he will be a great player for us."
