Newport County manager James Rowberry was delighted with the performance of new summer signing Omar Bogle after he scored a debut goal in their 1-1 draw against Sutton in the English Football League Two over the weekend.
The 29-year-old lasted for 81 minutes before being replaced by Lewis Collins as both sides shared the points on the opening day of the 2022/23 season.
County keeper Nick Townsend saved Robert Milsom's free-kick before Sutton went ahead through Omar Bugiel after Will Randall's effort came back off the crossbar. Omar Bogle levelled with a bullet header from Mickey Demetriou's throw.
"I'm really pleased - it's a good start to the season and it's an improvement from last season when we came here and lost," Rowberry said after the game.
"They're a tough team to play against and I thought we dealt with it particularly well.
"I'm pleased for Omar to get the goal because he's been working hard and you could see how hard he's worked."
