Former Black Stars midfielder Anthony Annan has dispelled rumors of his retirement, asserting his active status as a professional footballer.
The ex-Helsinki player, most recently with Arm. Lirich, expressed confidence in his abilities at 37 years old, affirming his determination to prolong his football career.
Annan, a significant figure in Ghanaian football from 2007 to 2013, notably contributing to the Black Stars' 2010 AFCON success and World Cup quarter-final appearance, has closed the door to further involvement with the national team after 67 appearances and two goals.
“I’m still Ghanaian and I’ve played for the Black Stars before. For now, some new players deserve the chance to play. We need to support them. I wouldn’t say I’ve retired but I have to step aside for the new players to have the opportunity," he told Pipapipa Media on YouTube.
Addressing the retirement speculations, he emphasized, “I have not retired yet. I just came to Germany, and I will see about that. If I get the chance to play again, I will. And if I feel I should retire, I will.”
