Inaki Williams has stated that he wants to make Ghanaians smile by playing football in Black Stars colours after completing his nationality switch.
The Athletico Bilbao forward has completed a nationality switch to play for the West African country.
The promising forward is available for Black Stars selection in the upcoming friendly games and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“Ghana is here in my heart because I enjoy this country. I see my people, I see my parents. My parents are Ghanaians and I am a Ghanaian. I didn’t forget that my father moved from this country to Spain. I need to give Ghanaians something and that something is to play football and I need to make them smile when I play football,” he told TV3.
“This moment is coming. I am going to work hard to raise the flag high. I am going to do everything for Black Stars and make all the people smile with me.”
“It [the team] represents all the people. All the kids have a dream to play for the Black Stars and when I have the opportunity, I will work hard for the children who will one day see me on TV and say ‘wow Inaki Williams is playing for Black Stars’,” he added.
Williams has played 272 La Liga games so far in his career, scoring 54 goals and dishing out 32 assists. His addition is a boost for Otto Addo who looks to improve his attacking options ahead of the World Cup.
