Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Randy Abbey says he was not expecting his former boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi to leave office in such a negative manner.
Mr Nyantakyi who reigned for over ten years as GFA boss left office after he was caught on tape engaging in bribery and corruption in the famous ‘Number 12’ exposé by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The former Wa All Stars boss resigned following the premiere of the video after a meeting with the then Executive Committee members of the Football Association.
However, Mr Nyantakyi, who was CAF's 1st president was subsequently slapped with a 90-day ban by FIFA before he was banned for a number of years from football-related activities.
And according to Dr Abbey, irrespective of everything, he feels bad about how his boss left office as the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“Well, I think that he did his bit and he has moved on and we need to move forward,” he told Accra-based 3FM.
“Nobody would want Kwesi Nyantakyi to go off with such negativity irrespective of everything and as human beings and as somebody you have worked with before, that is not how you would want him to sign off so it is unfortunate and disheartening.
“There is a new ear and we need to look forward,” he added.
Under Kwesi Nyantakyi, Ghana played its maiden World Cup in Germany in 2006 before in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups in South Africa and in Brazil.
The Black Stars also played in two AFCON finals in 2010 and 2015.
The Black Satellites in 2019 in Egypt became the first African side to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup, beating Brazil to win the ultimate.
