Ghana coach Chris Hughton is not taking the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations lightly as he aims to make a significant impact with the Black Stars.
The 2023 AFCON will commence on January 13, 2024, where 24 countries including Ghana will compete for the covetous trophy in Ivory Coast.
Ghana are drawn in Group B, where they will face record-winners Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in the group phase.
Unveiling his final 27-man squad for the AFCON tournament, the former Premier League manager disclosed he understand the level of the AFCON and for that matter, has to guide the team to do well.
“I understand the standard of AFCON and I know we must do well” he said.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024.
The Black Stars will commence preparation for the tournament on Tuesday in Kumasi.
Ghana have a history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982. However, they have experienced defeat in three finals since then, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, as well as a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.
