Chris Hughton says he saw good effort from the Black Stars in the final minutes of their international friendly against Mexico on Sunday dawn.

The North Americans scored two second half goals to win the game 2-0 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, USA.

“I thought both the goals that we conceded, I think from our point of view were two poor defensive goals,” Hughton said at the post-match presser.

“Then it became an uphill battle and I think we rallied around a little bit and I think in that final period of the game, you know, I saw good effort from the players in trying to get back into the game.

“I think it was it from that stage it was going to be very difficult.”

Following a goalless first half, Mexico seized the lead in the 57th minute, courtesy of PSV forward Hirving Lozano. Exploiting Ghana's defensive lapse, Lozano expertly slotted the ball into the net at Lawrence Ati-Zigi's right post.

The North American side further solidified their lead in the 72nd minute, with Dynamo Moscow's Uriel Antuna capitalizing on a well-placed through ball that dissected Ghana's defense, securing the second goal.

Next up for the Black Stars is a clash with the United States on Wednesday dawn at 12:30 A.M at the Geodis Park in Tennessee.
