Gregory Wüthrich spoke on Sky's "Talk & Tore" show, where he discussed the Europa League, joining Strum Graz, and his time in Australia.
Speaking on the Europa League game against Feyenoord Rotterdam and Gernot Trauner, Wüthrich said it will be a wonderful atmosphere.
“I know him from the Bundesliga that he is very good in the air when attacking. We're really looking forward to the game. It's going to be an incredible atmosphere for sure and we're going there with a lot of confidence. It will certainly be very difficult for us, but we're going there to take something countable with us,"
On his move to Sturm Graz in 2020: "I'm happy that Sturm saw my talent. It was a stroke of luck for me and the club,”
The defender also spoke about his friendship with Haris Tabakovic: "I've known Haris for ages. Since the juniors in Bern. We are best friends and we are in daily contact. I'm really looking forward to the game against him. I'm doubly motivated on the pitch, I don't want to let him have the ball and try to straddle him if I have to. No mercy, we are both very ambitious,”
The former Young Boys defender said it will be a dream to play for the Swiss national team: “Playing for the national team is of course a dream for every player, but I don’t think about it too much. I could play for Switzerland and also for Ghana, but in my position all the players there are in one of the top five leagues, so it's very difficult for me to have a chance as long as I play for Sturm Graz. But it's not really an issue for me. I'm concentrating on the club and want to get my performances here,"
The 27-year-old finally discussed his time as a professional in Australia: “The last year I had in Bern before I moved to Australia was very difficult for me. I played as a regular, we qualified for the Champions League and I gave an assist in the qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb. I injured myself in the final training session before the game against Manchester United, I was out and unfortunately only got to play one more game. That gave me a lot of trouble mentally at the time. It was a difficult time for me. Injuries often set me back in Bern and I realized how important a head is for a footballer. I then realized that I needed a fresh start and then the offer came from Australia. I have to say it was the best decision of my career. I found myself there again. It was an adventure. I got well and my head was great and then I came to Sturm Graz. I always knew that I wanted to come back to Europe afterwards,”
