Black Stars legend, Asamoah Gyan has stressed that nothing will make him turn his back on the national team.

The forward has not played for the Black Stars in the last couple of years although he has not yet retired.

Speaking to Asempa FM in an interview on Monday, June 5, Asamoah Gyan indicated that it is worrying how top Ghana players are not performing at the highest level in recent months.

Ahead of the Madagascar v Ghana game, the former Sunderland star said he will continue to support the Black Stars regardless of the state of the national team.

“Most of our key players are also not playing. Some are on and off and there are injuries as well. If you checked the performance of most of the players at the later stage was not that good. I think 60% of the key players that we have, their performance is now down and it’s worrying.

“I don’t think the team is bad. We are all fans so we will support the team,” Asamoah Gyan said.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification clash between Madagascar and Ghana is scheduled to be played on June 18
