Former Hearts of Oak striker Maxwell Boakye is impelling Black Stars technical team to offer home-based players more opportunities at the national team.
Only eleven home-based players made the 55-man Black Stars provisional squad ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
In interview with Footballghana.com, Boakye, who plies his trade for Ferroviario de Maputo in Mozambique advocated for more Black Stars opportunities for local players.
“The Mozambique national team is dominated by local players and they are performing. They qualified to the AFCON with local players and are in same group with Ghana. As a local player, you are always motivated to do more. So I will plead with the coaches to give our local guys more opportunities and I believe they can also prove a point”
“I sometime feel local players are not respected looking at the limited opportunities given them” he said.
