Derrick Kohn spoke to the media about his time at FC Bayern and his stopover in the Netherlands at Willem II. He also discussed his arrival at Maschsee, his objectives at Hannover, and the origin of his first name.
"These are of course world stars with enormous speed. I took a lot from every training session," the 23-year-old looked back.
One in particular gave him valuable tips there: "I was able to learn a lot from David Alaba and learn from it." What exactly? "Above all his offensive actions. Always being up front, running behind and closing," said Kohn.
In 2020 Kohn moved to Willem II Tillburg in the Netherlands, where he became a regular and appeared in 62 Eredivisie games.
"Of course you take a lot of experience from games against Ajax Amsterdam or PSV Eindhoven", which he now wants to bring to 96. "I had a very good first few days here. For example, I already knew Leo Weinkauf from my Bayern days," said Kohn and would first like to focus on making a good start at Maschsee in terms of sport: "First of all, I want to gain a foothold here, the first matchday is set almost. We want to start the season well in Kaiserslautern,"
On why he was named Derrick the defender gave an interesting answer.
"I once asked her where the name came from. She used to have the series liked to watch and just thought the name 'Derrick' was very nice, which is why she called me that,". He himself only took a quick look at the series, "to know who or what 'Derrick' is at all."
