Former Great Olympics Head Coach, Yaw Preko, has been awarded GHS 30,000 by the Ghana Football Association's disciplinary committee following his unilateral termination by the club.
Preko was sacked via a text message on September 14, 2022, despite having a one-year contract with the club.
The former Ghana international had persistently used former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu, contrary to directives from the club’s CEO Oluboi Commodore.
Preko filed a petition with the disciplinary committee, which has now ruled in his favor. Great Olympics have been charged with a breach of contract for Commodore's unilateral decision to fire the head coach.
The committee stated that there was no convincing evidence to suggest that Preko had breached Clause 5a or 5b of his contract with the club.
“Based on the available documents and pieces of evidence before the Committee, we are satisfied that, Petitioner did not breach Clause 5a or 5b of his contract with the club since there is no convincing evidence before the committee”, a portion of the ruling stated.
