Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have amended their jerseys for the 2022/23 season, taking off Otumfuo's image after mixed reactions from Ghanaian football fanatics.
The leadership of the club decided to have the image of Otumfuo printed on their new jerseys ahead of the new season, as a way of celebrating the club's life patron.
But the unveiling of the jerseys manufactured by Errea received mixed reactions, with bankroller of King Faisal Babies Alhaji Grusah describing the move as uncivilized.
Meanwhile, others believe it is the best way to advertise the Ashanti Kingdom to the world.
In a post sighted by Footballghana.com, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions have decided to get rid of the image of Otumfuo from the jersey.
“We have after further considerations in collaboration with Errea amended our 2022/23 Kits. Kum Apem a Apem Beba” the club tweeted.
The Porcupine Warriors have started preparations for the defense of the title they won last season, and will leave Ghana on August 15 to continue pre-season in Turkey. They will play a series of friendlies before returning to start the new campaign next month.
