English-born Ghanaian forward Eddie Nketiah has revealed how Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has helped shaped his progression on and off the field at the club.
The 23-year-old has become an improved player under the Spanish trainer. He has featured 29 times in the Premier League this season, scoring 4 goals in the process.
“The level of detail he goes into to make sure you’re really prepared for every phase of play,” Eddie revealed.
“Tactically he’s always preparing for events or what might happen on the pitch before it’s happened. I’m probably the most aware I’ve ever been - spacially, tactically and knowing my role in the team and where I can help and impact others. That’s what sets Mikel apart.
“He called me into his office and we were looking through some clips, and he was breaking down the movements and spaces showing that if I could drop in here I can play with the defenders. It makes you think twice about your movements and not doing everything so naturally.”
Nketiah extended his stay at Arsenal before the start of the 2022/23 season and opted to wear the iconic number 14 jersey at the club.
