Ghanaian defender Derrick Kohn joins German club Hannover 96 on 3-year deal

German-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Kohn will feature for Bundesliga 2 club Hannover 96 in the upcoming season after completing a move to the club.

The 23-year-old joins the club from Dutch Eredivisie side Willem Il in the ongoing summer transfer window.

He penned a three-year deal after passing his medicals and is expected to play a huge role for the club next season.

"96 is a club that you associate with as a footballer in Germany and that has now embarked on an exciting path. I had good discussions; the game idea suits me perfectly. I have the feeling that I can contribute myself and my strengths here, but I can also develop further and learn a lot. The anticipation is enormous," Kohn told the club's official website.

Hannover 96 Sporting Director Marcus Mann reacting to the acquisition of the Ghanaian defender described him as an athletic player who understands his role on the left side of defense with an offensive orientation and a lot of forward drive.

"Derrick is an extremely athletic player who understands his role on the left side of defense with an offensive orientation and a lot of forward drive. Despite featuring for Germany at youth level, he is still eligible to play for Ghana.
