Former Chelsea defender, Ryan Bertrand is backing the Black Stars of Ghana to improve before the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Many are not confident the Black Stars can achieve success at the 2023 AFCON after defeats to Mexico and the USA.
However, former Champions League winner Ryan Bertrand feels otherwise.
According to the former Chelsea full-back Ghana will be ready before the 2023 AFCON commences.
“Yeah, I think first of all football, international or domestic tournament football, anything can happen. So there’s some stage you are not in the best form and end up doing well. Sometimes you can be in great form and end up underachieving. I think the last two tests in USA and Mexico were good tests because they’re different, you know, different styles of football and different opposition.
“So I think they’re in great hands with Chris Hughton. I’m pretty sure by the time the tournament comes, they’ll be ready,” Chris Hughton said in an interview with 3Sports.
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast in January-February 2024.
Ghana is in Group B and will compete with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
