As the countdown to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations intensifies, the echoes of preparation are growing louder for Ghana's national football team.

Fred Pappoe, former vice president of the Ghana Football Association, is sounding a clarion call for meticulous groundwork ahead of the tournament.

Pappoe asserts that Ghana must adopt a comprehensive strategy, treating each team in their group with equal gravity during their preparations.

In a recent statement, Pappoe emphasized a paradigm shift in the perception of African football, stating unequivocally that there are no minnows on the continent. His insights come as a reminder that underestimating any opponent could prove costly on the grand stage of the Afcon.

Ghana's quest for Afcon glory has been a prolonged one, with the elusive trophy slipping through their grasp for over four decades. The upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast is not just a competition; it's an opportunity for Ghana to break the jinx that has persisted since the late '70s.

"I think we have to look at things in a very careful way when we are going to play Comoros then we are afraid it reflects the way we see ourselves and also see other people in football," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"It looks like we are proud and look down on others but now football has become different every opponent is a strong opponent.

"So if we are preparing shouldn't prepare like we are going to play Comoros we prepare anyway then when we are going to play Egypt we prepare very well we should look realistically about our opponents and ourselves,"

The draw placed Ghana in Group B, alongside formidable opponents in Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
