Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku has tested positive for coronavirus, according to reports in France.

The 24-year-old was absent from training last Thursday and was not involved in their Ligue 1 game against Caen, although he was named in the 19-man squad before the match.

Amiens SC lost 3-1 on Saturday evening and after the game, coach Philippe Hinschberger said that Opoku was sick. Indeed, he was because he tested positive for Covid-19.

The club quickly made arrangements by taking individual rooms for the players and chartering two buses for the trip.

Opoku has made seven league appearances for Amiens SC this season and provided one assist in the process.

He started his career in Ghana, featuring for Kumasi Corner Babies before joining Berekum Chelsea in 2016.

The defender has since played for Club Africain and Udinese.

Opoku has featured for Ghana U-17 and U-20 teams and made his senior international debut against the United States in July 2017.
