Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak are set to face sanctions for disrespecting the G6 tournament organised by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).
Although the Phobians did not qualify to feature in the ongoing edition of the tournament, GHALCA made considerations and allowed the club to participate to help its preparations for the 2022 CAF inter-club competitions.
To the shock of GHALCA, none of Hearts of Oak’s first team players played for the club in the two matches against Medeama SC and Berekum Chelsea.
Unhappy with what it has witnessed, GHALCA has decided to crack the whip.
According to Mr. John Ansah who is Vice Chairman of GHALCA, there will be consequences going forward.
“GHALCA is a big institution and we cannot organize a competition without any document. We have rules on this tournament and it states that registered players must be used.
“We as the exco of GHALCA we know we are dealing with Hearts who ought to use their registered players, but if someone thinks he can outsmart us by using their youth team, we will be tougher going forward in the next edition,” Mr. John Ansah told Akoma FM in an interview.
The GHALCA Vice President added, “We informed the clubs to use registered players. Both Kotoko and Hearts are our members, with Kotoko"s withdrawal and Hearts using youth team, the exco of GHALCA is going to meet to take a firm decision on what these clubs has have done.
“This competition is played yearly, so we will take our time and consider the next line of action since they are our members.”
After losing to Medeama SC and Berekum Chelsea, Hearts of Oak have been eliminated from the GHALCA G6 tournament.
