The Executive Council has announced the appointment of Joe Nana Adarkwa as the new head coach of the female U-17 national team, Black Maidens, on Monday, February 26.

Adarkwa, currently serving as the assistant coach of the Black Princesses and head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, will succeed Baba Nuhu in this role.

Having achieved notable success with Ampem Darkoa Ladies, including two Women’s Premier League titles in 2022 and 2023, as well as winning the Women’s FA Cup and clinching gold at the WAFU Women’s Champions League, Adarkwa brings a wealth of experience to his new position.

Joining him in the coaching staff will be Basiru-Deen Sumani, coach of Northern Ladies, as his assistant, and former Asante Kotoko and Ghana goalkeeper Osei Boateng, who will serve as the goalkeepers’ trainer.

The appointment of Adarkwa reflects the commitment of the Executive Council to strengthen the coaching setup for the Black Maidens as they prepare for upcoming competitions and continue to develop young talent within Ghanaian women’s football.
