Former Asante Kotoko coach, Isaac Opeele Boateng, has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint an ambitious coach for the Black Stars.

The national team is currently in search of a new head coach after parting ways with former head coach Chris Hughton. Hughton, the former Premier League manager, guided the Black Stars through the 34th edition of the AFCON, where the team finished third in Group B with just two points from three games.

In response to Hughton's dismissal, the GFA has established a five-member committee tasked with recommending a new head coach to the Executive Council within three weeks.

However, Boateng, a former Ghana U-20 assistant coach, has emphasized the importance of selecting a coach with hunger and determination.

Boateng speaking to Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com stated, "Coaching is not solely about the number of years in the profession. If that were the case, then top managers like Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp wouldn't have started their coaching careers. I believe the FA should seek out a young and hungry coach eager to make a significant impact."

Drawing a parallel to past successes, Boateng mentioned, "Kwesi Nyantakyi went to Serbia to bring in Milovan Rajevac, and look at the success Ghana achieved. Therefore, the focus should be on finding a promising young coach prepared to leave a mark."

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has set February 2 as the deadline for receiving applications for the vacant coaching position.
