Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant, Amanda Clinton has credited Kurt Okraku for the work he has done in his first term but is at a loss over his seeming unwillingness to have his seat challenged.
George Afriyie, who was the only candidate challenging Mr Okraku has been disqualified from the race.
Mr Afriyie's initial disqualification was appealed but the Appeals Committee threw out the appeal.
For Clinton, the challenges Afriyie is facing aren’t a good look on incumbent GFA President, Kurt Okraku despite performing well in his tenure as GFA President.
“Optics-wise, it’s going to look really bad because he is the incumbent. He’s done a fairly decent job because of COVID…so to sit there as a de facto dictator-like figure when last four years we had I think six contenders, does not showing anything of clearing the rot per se," she told Citi Sports.
"I think optics-wise, it’s the worst decision he could have made because he is the incumbent so he really could have won in any case but he seems to be fearful for some reason," she added.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have confirmed that the 2023 Elective Congress will be held on October 5 in Tamale.
