U.S. Men’s National Team head coach, Gregg Berhalter, says the international friendlies against Germany and Ghana are an important building block ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Berhalter named a 23-player USMNT training camp squad that will prepare for the upcoming high-profile friendlies against four-time World Cup champions and the four-time African champions.
Speaking after naming his squad for the games later this month, he said the selection was based on continuity and team chemistry building.
“In line with our long-term strategic approach towards 2026, we have a great opportunity to play against two world-class opponents and continue to progress our group of players,” Berhalter said.
“We are focused on selecting strong rosters and maintaining continuity as much as possible, and this is another important building block.”
Black Stars will face the United States of America in the international friendly on October 17, 2023.
That will be three days after the game against Mexico on October 14.
