Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Saanie Daara has taken a swipe at Nigeria and Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel for undermining ex-Black Stars coach Avram Grant.

The former Nigeria midfielder in a podcast raised concerns about the capabilities of the Israeli trainer despite working under him at Chelsea.

“He wasn't a coach; he didn't even have any idea what he was doing. All he was doing was telling stories about Michael Jordan, but somehow things worked out for him and he got us to the Champs Lge final." He said.

However, the senior CAF media officer has refuted the claims by the former Nigeria international as he believes he wouldn’t attain such height in his coaching career if he was not great tactician.

He has therefore urged Mikel Obi to find a job to do than to disrespect worthy people.

“Mikel should stop disrespecting worthy people and find a job to do. A man with top UEFA license, excelled in coaching - led Chelsea to the final of the Champs League, Ghana to the Afcon final and reviving Zambia can't be operating just on luck. He must be doing something right” he wrote on X.

Saanie Daara was part of the Ghana Football Association administration that appointed Avram Grant as the Black Stars coach back in 2014.

The Israeli trainer led the Black Stars to reach the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where they lost to Ivory Coast on penalties.

Avram Grant is currently the head coach of former AFCON champions Zambia.
