Footballghana.com has verified that more than 600 coaches have submitted applications for the vacant coaching position with the Black Stars.

Since the dismissal of Chris Hughton following the team's underwhelming performance at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana's senior national team has been without a head coach.

This marks the second consecutive time that Ghana has experienced an early exit in the group phase of the tournament, accruing only two points after three matches.

The Black Stars suffered a defeat against Cape Verde and managed two draws against Egypt and Mozambique in Group B.

In the aftermath of Hughton's termination from his 21-month contract, a five-member committee was established to recommend a new coach to the Executive Council of the Football Association within 21 days.

Sannie Daara revealed that the applications received for the coaching role exceeded 600, with candidates from Europe, South America, North America, and Africa expressing interest.

Among the applicants, Michael Osei and Maxwell Konadu are the only two local coaches who have thrown their hats into the ring for the vacant position.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is anticipated to announce the appointment of a new head coach before the Black Stars' next international engagement.
