Former Ghana international Edward Agyemang Duah has explained why both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak struggle in Africa inter-club competitions.

The two most glamourous clubs have failed to live up to expectations in both CAF Champions League and Confederations in recent times.

Kotoko is the last club to reach the money zone of the CAF Confederations Cup in 2019.

In an interview with Winneba-based NycE FM, the former Ghana defender attributed Kotoko and Hearts of Oak’s unimpressive performance in Africa to the presence of lazy players at their folds.

“Current players of both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are not serious. During our time, there was a lot of competition, players were committed, disciplined and united. Above all, we were serious and trained harder which yielded results”

“Truth be told, the players at the moment are lazy and that is why they are unable to perform in Africa” he said.

The 49-year-old had stints with the two most glamourous clubs in the country before retirement.

He was part of the Black Stars squad that represented Ghana as both 1994 and 1998 Africa Cup of Nations.
