Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Brian Brobbey made a strong return to action for Ajax in the game against Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Europa League.

Brobbey return to the Ajax for the Europa League game on Thursday after missing previous game against Vitesse last Saturday.

On his return, the Ghanaian attacker registered his name on the scoresheet twice despite succumbing to a 4-3 defeat Stade Orange Vélodrome.

Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke the deadlock for the host after just nine minutes into the much-anticipated encounter but Ajax responded quickly with an equalizer from Brobbey in the tenth minute.

Marseille doubled their advantage through Chancel Mbemba in the 26th minute before Brobbey pulled parity four minutes later as the first half ended 2-2.

Aubameyang scored his second goal of the match to put Marseille in front, three minutes after recess before Chuba Akpom leveled pegging for Ajax.

But a last-gasp strike Aubameyang, his third goal of the match propelled the French club to secure maximum points.

Brobbey has been a key contributor to Ajax's campaign this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 18 games across competitions.
